Bidrage med feedbackIn addition to the engaging private tour, the grounds were beautifully maintained and offered a picturesque setting. We also enjoyed taking photos with the enormous Famous Grouse bottle, which has earned Glenturret a Guinness World Record for producing the largest whiskey bottle in the world. Although I'm not a big whiskey enthusiast, I discovered that the malt whiskey made here is quite different from what I'm used to in the United States. Living only about an hour from where Jack Daniels is produced, my exposure to whiskey has largely been limited to that. Before this visit, I hadn't heard much about Scottish whiskey. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Glenturret Distillery, and the 40-minute drive from Perth was certainly worthwhile. However, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for a longer drive to visit. It was a delightful experience!
We had an incredible tour with Don as our guide. It was very informative and filled with both knowledge and laughter. The whiskey tasting was fantastic as well. I highly recommend this tour if you're in the area!
I had a wonderful experience at this charming distillery, which offered an informative and entertaining tour. I especially appreciated the emphasis placed on the distillery cats: Glen and their predecessor, the legendary mouser Towser. The tour concluded with a standard tasting, where we received some helpful tips on how to properly taste whisky. They even provided takeaway pots for those who were designated drivers!
This is the third (and final) distillery we're going on during our week in Scotland. The tour was incredibly corporate with very little room for the guide to stray from her talking points. The group size was large which played into this. For ten pounds we had an hour long tour through the facilities (a lot of which wasn't currently being used which differed from our last two distilleries). We were given a lot of misinformation delivered as fact (high alcohol content causing blindness, and misinformation on removing toxins, or that if you don't turn your cell phone off the battery will make the distillery explode). At the end we received two samples with some absurd whiskey tasting tips. The overall tour was similar to our tour at Glengassagh just with a lot less personalization and a lot more rote memorization from the guide. We wouldn't go on this tour again and will definitely stick to smaller operations in the future (plug for Knockdhu here).
A great afternoon out. The guide was knowledgeable and personable and I learnt a great deal about the process of whisky making. All details were thought about and the preparation for a Covid-secure site was thorough and made us feel safe.
