Bidrage med feedbackWhen we arrived at the boxcar it was going great, until we started ordering food. Two of my friends food came out 30 minutes after everyone else was served. When the waitress realized these two guys had not been served they had the nerve to come back and ask what they had ordered. This is when their meal was put in. The steaks did not come out like they should have. Gavin ordered a steak medium rare and it came out charred. I don't recommend this place, unless of course you are coming for a jack and coke, which was descent.
My food was great. But my buddies food didn't come out until about 30 mins after a table of 11 of us total (9 got their food). Alcohol took forever to be served. We were, more or less, put on the back burner. (No pun intended).
Crewe...CREWE! And it has very good food in the form of The Boxcar. Fresh ingredients compose these traditional dishes, but some with a new twist. One such twist is the shrimp and sausage grits. As per most Low Country grit dishes, there is cheese in the grits. But unlike other cheese and grit dishes found in this area, these were finely ground grits so not excessively grainy) with a perfectly blended cheese so as to make every mouthful the perfect cheese to grit ratio. The twist is in the toppings-peppers! I am not a fan of green peppers, but these are so finely chopped, and blended with red and yellow peppers as well as green onions, that the flavours meld together for a perfectly delightful dish. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I WILL be returning!!
Good food! Great service, contemporary style restaurant.
*Just left here. Apparently they don 't serve people food unless you pay $5 to go into the bar area* My husband and I walked in after noticing the parking lot was packed. Upon entering 'Hi, it 'll be 5$ '. When we replied we didn 't want to go into the bar side but preferred the restaurant, we were told 'Oh we don 't do that. After 9pm we have a late night menu '. I 'd like to point out it was 9:02pm. Crewe has very little in restaurants and I 'm sure this establishment could use all the patronage they can get. I will not be giving them any of my business.
