Bidrage med feedbackOn December 31, 2023, my girlfriend and I celebrated New Year's Eve at The Pub, a restaurant known for its British pub atmosphere and menu. We have enjoyed a delightful tradition here for several years, which includes singing a spirited rendition of "God Save the Queen" (or "God Save the King," as it is now) along with a shot of Guinness at 7 PM to coincide with midnight in London. This year, however, was quite different. To our surprise, there was no chorus of "God Save the King," and instead of Guinness, we were offered a shot of champagne. My girlfriend and I decided to split the shots—she took the champagne while I had the Guinness. But that’s not the end of the story. Both of us typically prefer wine, and when I noticed she hadn’t finished her champagne, I asked if something was wrong. She mentioned it tasted off, and upon trying it myself, I was shocked to discover that it wasn’t even champagne—it was a sweet Sparkling Moscato, which is far from the dry, floral taste of a Chardonnay that I was expecting. When I approached the host to address the issue, she insisted that it was their "house brand" wine, claiming it was a lower-cost champagne rather than admitting it was actually Sparkling Moscato. She seemed unaware of what had been served and may not have been of legal age to recognize the difference. This lack of accountability and transparency was very disappointing. As for the food, while it was generally good, my appetizer was overcooked and nearly burnt. The atmosphere that night also fell short of our expectations for a New Year's Eve celebration. When a host or management refuses to acknowledge a mistake and insists on misleading customers, it creates a negative experience. Having frequented The Pub for the last 10 to 15 years as our favorite spot, this experience has unfortunately changed our minds. In the future, we may opt for a longer drive to Cincinnati or seek out a different restaurant altogether. This experience has truly soured our enjoyment.
Great spot that’s definitely worth a visit and then some!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience overall. The service was excellent, and we all had a wonderful time. My shepherd's pie was delicious, and while my friend's steak looked perfectly cooked, it may have been a tad dry. We were part of a large group, and I thought the restaurant handled it very well. We started with pretzels and loaded potatoes as appetizers, and everything was spot on—just really solid all around.
I love the authentic decor and food. The fish sandwich is great and so are the spear shaped fried pickles.
Great place great food!! We always stop here when visiting our family in the area.
