Two couples had dinner and the food and wine and service were all one could ask. A friend and I order the sea bass and before being cooked the server brought out the entire fish for me to survey. Upon my approval it went back to the chef. After it was ready, the server brought it to the table and filleted it before us with no bones. The pasta dishes were exceptional as well. Would definitely return.
One of the best places in Vicenza area for a steak associated with good wine. Try the bisteca fiorentina with Amarone della Valpolicella and you can never go wrong.
For business I visit Vicenza twice a year. El Filo is one of the restaurants we visit regularly when we are in Vicenza. A nice restaurant with a terrace outside during summer. Usually they have a salad bar, this time there was no salad bar. I choose the pasta with duck as a starter and the sea bass as main dish. The pasta was a little too much al dente (could be a little bit softer). The sea bass was perfectly cooked , put on a nice plate with some vegetables. This restaurant will remain on our list.
We have visited El Filo countless times over the past five years. The food is great, staring with an outstanding antipasto buffet. When the porcini mushrooms are in season you MUST try the porcini soup. The bistecca fiorentina is absolutely delicious but you need at least two people to order it, perhaps even three !!! The fish of the day is always fresh and the servers are really skilled when taking the fillets out of the whole fish right in front of you.
