Cafe Beignet, Decatur Street - Cozumel

Went for the beignets- left content. Feels a little classier and less crazy than other places for beignets when we came.

Loved the beinets. We came back for an early evening drink, but the bar was closed.

We've been to Cafe du monde and stumbled on here. Both are great, but the atmosphere was top. Massively shorter line, simple live music, and options. One order of 3 beignets is perfect for two, and had option of chocolate and strawberries. Little bathroom on hand is also key for washing hands afterwards. Simple snack or lunch options too make it a superior choice over cafe du monde.

The espresso machine was broken. I ordered a chocolate croissant, that was a bit stale and not warmed up. When I asked them to warm it up, the staff made a face and told me that she can't warm it up now I've taken a bite. Then with obvious annoyance reached for another croissant, which at that point I felt no thank you and turned around. Surely not coming back here.

Cafe Beignets prides itself to have the best beignets in town, but I beg to differ. Cafe du Monde's are far superior. While they weren't bad, they weren't great, they're OK, nothing spectacular. The Cafe au lait was decent. Also tried the Boudin egg rolls, and they're tasty redeeming enough to get 3 stars. Atmosphere was very loud and noisy, music way too loud to have a conversation. Our table was not cleaned off. I guess, unlike Cafe du Monde, they don't have enough staff to do that. Service was very sliw.
