For me is the best restaurant in Mexico City. traditional, simple and tasty. owners are from michoacan. not a chic restaurant and not a chic zone of the city, dress accordingly.
The birria is excellent, and the place very popular, as the people show that run out on the pavement at the weekend and it is a great place, with twin close. it is quieter in the week it did not have too many customers on a weekday. they have no menu, you will only be offered (in Spanish) what, although it seems that there is someone who speaks English. the birrie was excellent. it is accompanied by handmade tortillas that you can observe how to be made. they are large, soft and thicker than standard tarillas. I ordered to drink horchata, a non-alcoholic drink on a rice basis. it was nice if it had been colder.
I'm in Mexico on a regular basis for business and pleasure and love to find those restaurants having the best of local delicacies, so when a friend told me about the excellent birria at this restaurant I was excited to try it. The restaurant was...packed and it looked like I was the only American there (not unusual for me). The birria was excellent, however the experience was tainted when I was accosted by a drunk patron. I know this can happen at any restaurant serving alcohol but I was shocked to see the management giving a high five to the drunk patron as he left. Clearly this is not a tourist friendly restaurant so I cannot recommend it nor would I return.
If you want to eat exceptional traditional Mexican food, try the birria (originally from michoacán mexiko, a traditional spicy suppe with goat meat). the place is not located in a tourist zone and it is not the safest place in the city. they have only. birria, birria tacos and quesadillas, nothing else. I like birrie very and definitiw is the best birrie I have eaten. I highly recommend it.
