A wonderful evening. Had a ‘bid’ offer to upgrade our room and got it so had a wonderful one really amazing! Staff were extremely helpful and polite always, service was brilliant. Dinner was beautiful and the breakfast buffet very good. The hotel itself is just pouring with history out of every crevice really grand and spectacular! I do quite like Coombe Abbey. Particularly I like the wellies just inside the front door as they make me feel like a guest. I was in the Priory block which was freezing cold and there appeared to be no heating in the bathroom. The thing that really annoyed me was having to pay for car parking as an overnight and 2-day conference guest. Now I expect to pay for hotel parking in city centres and at airports, but it is just a con and a nuisance to charge at a hotel where there is more land than you can ride your horse around in a day. I bet it annoys the vast number of afternoon tea guests as well, effectively increasing published prices by quite a percentage. There was also no decent ale, which is ironic for an Abbey. Don’t you have a stock left over from the monks? If it were not for the car parking con and freezing bedroom, I would have given it 4 stars. So if you visit on foot in the summer, I am sure you will like Coombe Abbey. Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 4
Stayed for 2 nights here, lovely dark gothic interior and great staff. Service is excellent I must say. However, we were given a 3 tier room which was below average, Even though it had alot of character, the room was not practical and floor and stairs made alot of noise while walking. Hardly any practical space to shower. Wifi is really bad unfortunately. Could also do better with breakfast. Rooms: 2 Service: 5 Location: 5
