Runge's Fine Foods & Deli - Courtenay

Stopped in to pick up deli sandwiches for a picnic. You pick your deli meat and they put your sandwich together using rye bread, mayo, mustard and pickle. Great value!

Fantastic little deli in Courtenay. Huge selection of cheeses, then a huge selection of all the other things you'd expect in a quality deli: preserves, candies and as it's got a German bent, a lot of German themed candies and delicacies. Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable as well. Really highly recommended.

Whether you must have fresh eggs, or European cheeses and sausages, or Dutch, Indonesian, German specialty food, this deli offers a great selection in a tiny space. Lots of variety, and always something yummy to try.

Make sure you take the time to visit Runges when you are in downtown Courtenay. They have so much amazing European food it takes a while to get around the store. If you are looking for something, the staff are very helpful and will give you some good tips. Check out their very lovely window decorations, they are a piece of art. Prices are very good

There's so much to see here that it would take several visits to really appreciate it all. Wonderful imported European treats, great deli and take-out. Friendly staff. It's something else at Christmas, you can get lots of great gifts and stocking stuffers there but any time of the year it's worth a visit.
