The Stanley Jefferson - County Durham

I really enjoy this pub in Bishop. It is affordably priced and has a charming beer garden in the back.

This was my first time visiting and it was quite busy with a food festival happening on the market square outside.

This Wetherspoons location is one of the better ones. It is clean and comfortable, with no long waits for food. However, it could improve by either hiring more staff or deploying them more effectively. During my visit, I encountered a deserted bar. Despite this, I would still rate it 4 stars.

Can be very hit and miss, sometimes spot on, tables cleaned, food good, quick service served hot and correct. Other times service is very slow, food is cold or not cooked properly, tables left uncleared for long periods. Always worth a visit but be prepared for occasional disappointment. Good value and unhurried experience. Free parking out front but limited spaces so usually have to park a few hundred yards away

Fish and chips was good for money. Pick most expensive alcoholic drinks and even cheaper. Plates were hot and food was hot. One or two chips undercooked but overall good. Good choice of ales.
