I just had drinks with my husband and a research colleague here tonight. We had only four glasses of red wine, two glasses of beers and a bread called Cullura. When we arrived at our apartment we realised they charged us with 4 (four) Cullura....That overchared us by 7.5 Euro! We were in a hurry when my husband made payment, and he did not check, because it was raining hard outside and we had to rush walking back home. It's not about the money, it's about feeling of being cheated..So be careful and make sure you check your bill before paying.
A cafe worth exploring. We had gelato here, it was absolutely delicious! I would recommend it for atmosphere, it is nice, cosy and fancy at the same time.
We had a nice afternoon coffee and pastry at Caffe Renelli. It is an historical place, in operation since 1803. The young man in the café did his best to speak English with us, which we appreciated. It was a nice break after a walk...up the hill through the garbage strewn streets of old town. The café could use some freshening up but the coffee and pastries were good and provided a good break in our walk.
We stopped by for a light lunch after walking around the old town in Cosenza. Although this is a cafe and not a restaurant, they do have a modest light lunch menu. My wife and I shared eggplant with anchovies and a dried-beef salad. Both...were tasty. None of the staff spoke any English to speak of, and we all had a fun time trying to communicate ... No tension or stress. This is a great place to sit in the shade and have the beverage of you choice while people watching.
