Bidrage med feedbackThe food at this restaurant was truly amazing. I visited with my parents this past weekend, not expecting much, but we were all thoroughly impressed by the quality of the dishes. Every meal we tried was exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a great dining experience. The ambiance was delightful, and the service was excellent; the staff was eager to answer any questions we had about the menu.
Shrimp Grits were delicious, I've never had it before so I don't have a frame of reference. Shrimp was fresh, not fishy and de-veined. The bacon bits with pumpkin seeds surprisingly paired really well! Steak Frites was really salty but was so tender. We got it medium rare and it was a delight; HIGHLY recommend (ask for light salt). We got here at 4pm so there was no wait. The interior is, how I would describe it, cozy industrial. It has intimate dinner vibes but open concept.
Great food we really enjoyed our entrees, which were thoughtfully prepared, and elegantly plated. That's where the good ends.. The overall experience of our anniversary dinner fell short. The evening overshadowed by inattentive service and a botched cocktail delivery leaving our table soaked and sticky with a drink spilled all over. The food runner that spilled the drink managed to save half of it and got a rag to clean the table but only got some of the drink cleaned up and left us with our elbows in sticky mess for the remainder of the meal. They didn't offer to remake the drink, nor did they apologize. I figured at this point they would at least remove it from the check. Nope the cocktail runner didn't even mention it to our server. I would have just assumed they would be communicating with each other on things such as this. The server rarely came around to check on us and seemed overwhelmed. At the end of the meal when the check was received I mentioned it and rather than comp the $14 cocktail, they just discounted it. Giving off Ross dress for less vibes. Not really so great with the service recovery, guys. Generally speaking, based on this experience I would not return. There are better culinarily experiences down the road..
I typically avoid giving negative reviews, but after multiple disappointing customer service experiences at Castor, I feel compelled to share. I frequent Castor for special occasions, such as my recent birthday celebration, drawn in by the food and atmosphere. However, I 've encountered multiple negative customer service incidents that have left me disheartened and unlikely to return. On my birthday, our waitress was aware of the occasion but didn 't acknowledge it, which added a tinge of sadness to an already challenging day. While I understand additional gestures are not obligatory, even a simple happy birthday would have been appreciated. Despite this, the steak frites and pork chop we ordered were delightful, especially considering the fair price point $22) of the steak frites. Unfortunately, the food took 45 minutes to arrive, leading to some frustration as we had a few cocktails before our meal and were becoming a bit delirious and frustrated. Additionally, our waitress was largely absent throughout the meal, which further detracted from the experience. During another visit with a large group, which included my visiting mother and friends, I expected to treat them all to a nice dinner. Despite ordering drinks, appetizers, and entrees, and being prepared to pay and tip generously, I felt we were neglected and treated rudely, possibly due to our young age. Our waitress was very short with us and did not make us feel welcome. While I appreciate the quality of the food and the cute and cozy atmosphere at Castor, my recent experiences with customer service have been disappointing, often leaving me feeling undervalued and unwelcome.
Came in as walk in 6 pm Friday night. Sent us to back of restaurant to sit in a bench where they left us. No one but a kind waiter checked in on us. Went back and spoke to person at front twice with very little result. Were supposedly waiting for a table to open up. Never happened. Finally nice waiter sent us down the block to Lucca where we finally got food.
