Rifugio Col Druscie - CORTINA D'AMPEZZO

We arrived at nearly empty restaurant. We were waiting for about an hour for waiter to even look at us. We ordered a burger for fkn 20€ which was the most expensive and most discusting burger in my life. For them burger is meat with little onions and a slice of tomato. No bread!! After we asked for a check we waited nearly 30minutes for a waiter to bring us the check. All waiters were rude and arrogant. And all this cost you extra 3€ service fee for their kindness and hospitality NEVER AGAIN!

We arrived on the beautiful, empty, sun-kissed veranda at just before midday. Most of the tables were beautifully set with napkins, knives and forks and all the trimmings. It looked very enticing. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not. There was a lot of discussion among the waiters about whether it might be possible to accommodate us. After some time we were offered an un-dressed table in the full shade, given that all other tables were reserved . Disappointed, we had no choice but to accept. The temperature was -7. Slow service resulted in a reasonable meal but we could not fail to notice that none of the reserved tables were taken up during the hour we spent there. Worse, we heard numerous larger parties announce that they had no reservations, only to be shown to sun-kissed tables that were fully dressed. We did request a move at one point but were assured that ours was the only table that was possible and were thrown a blanket to keep us warm in the shade. The waiter at one point chortled at us about how cold we looked. When the bill came we couldn 't help noticing a E3/person cover charge, not evident on the menu. When challenged, we were assured that this was standard in Italy. I said it was not. They said that I had probably not noticed it in other restaurants. As an aside, the food was roughly twice the price of many equivalent mountain huts in the region and was definitely not twice as good. We 've been coming to Italy for many years and it is definitely not a standard. I would encourage others to look for alternative venues.

The most amazing views! Fantastic service from Herbert, Mimo and the team! Food and wine was delicious and music super cool! Love it so much we came back every day!!
