Bidrage med feedbackAmazing pizza. Literally never open. Every time I've tried to drive up and order a pizza it's been closed. Hours on the door and on yelp state that they should be open but they aren't. Frustrating Bc the pizza is so good and want to support. Oh well there are other places in Newport to go to!
My husband was sooo excited about trying Sliced after following Me. Franzese for a long time. So disappointing to find the store is closed until April. It would have been great to have a phone message or some sort of notice that they're closed before we drove over when we were unable to order online or by phone. Hopefully this notice will help others until they reopen. We hope to try the pizza when we visit family again in the future.
This place is a hidden gem for really great Sicilian pizza and short of going to Sicily (or Prince St in NYC), this is the best you 're going to get. {if you LOVE pizza} Neopolitan and NY style pizza have been the rage in So Cal. Outside of that, it 's really hard to find different styles of pizza. Chicago. Detroit. And in this case Sicilian. What I loved about Slices is the quality and ratio of ingredients. Generally, great pizza should be memorable--not because it 's too heavy or taste processed. What was most memorable for me was the dough, which provided an excellent focaccia base. The sauce, cheese and additional ingredients layered nicely onto this base without any specific ingredient overpowering one or the other. With the pepperoni slice, there was enough pepperoni to be savory but it wasn 't overwhelming to the point where the slice was overly greasy or salty. I loved that the Margherita felt cohesive rather than showcase one ingredient which is what usually happens with Margherita pizzas. I left feeling satisfied, though maybe wish I had ordered a third slice. {if you LIKE pizza} It 's important to note that this is Sicilian style pizza and not the NY style nor neopolitan style that most boutique pizza spots serve. Nor is it the thin crust or pan pizzas you get from chains. These are square slices, with a focaccia base. And it would have been easy for them to skimp on the dough but from focaccia up, you just get high quality ingredients (It 's even better than the slices I get from dare I say Eataly) for a satisfying meal. In comparison, most people have had Sicilian inspired pizza if they 've had the notorious mall chain, Sbarro. *shudders* There 's nothing memorable about Sbarro, other than that it was overpriced but it fed you and maybe your date in a smartphone less world. The crust and dough are definitely a tasteless afterthought. But I digress. Logistics Slices range anywhere from $3.50-$4.50 (from cheese to specialty) Parking can be challenging (it 's CDM), especially on weekends Seating-A few small tables, meant for small groups of 2-3 rather than families of 5 Low key suggestion, park in the nearby lot serving Gulfstream/Tommy Bahama/Sprinkles. Take the 10 minute walk on a beautiful, CDM day and make your way to Slices. As a date idea, check out the nearby Sherman Library on your way to, or back from Slices.
