Bidrage med feedbackSince moving two years ago, the Unicorn quickly became our favorite local spot. However, in the last six months, it has unfortunately gone downhill. We used to visit once a month for a drink after the beach, a casual lunch with the kids, or a date night dinner. Recently, we've had to bring some issues to the attention of the staff during our visits. In January, there was a disruptive, barking dog that I had to ask the waitress to address. In February, a wet and sandy dog came up to our table during drinks, which was unpleasant. The Unicorn tries to maintain a more upscale vibe with good food, fancy cocktails, and higher prices, but the presence of dogs roaming around gives it more of a casual beach pub feel. When I spoke to the bar manager, Harry, about our experiences with the dogs, he promised to pass on my feedback to the owner, but I never heard back. On a recent visit, the food was overcooked and dry, and the presence of a window cleaner during lunch was disruptive. Last night's experience was particularly disappointing, as we were seated by a window and it was unbearably cold. The waitress explained they were out of oil and couldn't turn on the heating, which was not communicated to us beforehand. Harry seems to be the only one keeping everything together, despite being left without necessary resources. The food was good last night, but for a £72 bill, I would rather eat at home. Additionally, we received a parking fine after dining in October, as the staff did not communicate the need to register our car for free parking. Overall, it's becoming embarrassing to continue calling the Unicorn our favorite local spot.
I am extremely disappointed. I expected an apology from the owner, but it was dreadful. I asked for a gluten-free dinner without gravy, why didn't they tell us that? It was not very professional. I ended up changing the meal to a burger, which was awful. I paid $29 for 2 bottles of gluten-free beer, but the coffee was cold and the roast dinner was also disappointing. I was in shock that the manager did not speak to us. As local people, we will definitely not be dining there again. I hope to hear back from you. Regards.
Could you please explain why a packet of Bart crisps is priced at £2.50? It seems excessive, particularly when other retail outlets sell them for only £1. Even the National Trust, which is known for higher prices, doesn't charge as much for the same product.
Love this place. We are local and go all the time. Never fail to have delicious food and friendly service. The staff make this place.
Having had an excellent meal at the Unicorn previously during the summer, I recently made a booking for 17 family and friends to host a surprise birthday dinner for my wife. The Team at the Unicorn couldn't have been more helpful. They allowed us us to come in early to decorate the room and tables and also took delivery of and stored a large cake we had made for the event. On the evening they helped heard everyone onto the room for the surprise moment, and all of the guests commented on how lovely the staff were. The food was superb and despite the large variety of different dishes, all 17 meals arrived in rapid succession. My sincere thanks to the Team at the Unicorn for making this such a memorable experience. We will be back..
