With the wearing of masks and the lively downtime during this extended "March Break", the service at Harveys Cornwall is always guaranteed to be excellent! The chees
A couple of years ago, I visited Harvey's in Cornwall with my son and ordered a classic bacon burger. The burger was delicious, with a noticeable bacon flavor that complemented the patty well. However, when I returned a year later hoping to relive the experience, I was disappointed to find that the bacon burgers no longer had the same quality and did not taste like they had any bacon in them. It was a letdown to see that the bacon had become sparse and barely noticeable in the burger.
I didn't stay at Harvey's for long, but I tried their Angus Doppelburger with cheese. It was really good, definitely better than most other places. I will definitely be returning.
Let’s say this, the one star is generous as no star isn’t an option. Traveling back from Quebec, on our way to NY, we were excited to find a Swiss Chalet as we no longer have one in our hometown. To say this was the...worst dining experience ever, is a gross understatement. The restaurant, if you want to call it that is decorated circa 1972 and appears to have not been cleaned since. Many of the lights were out in the dining area, this may have been a plus. We ordered our Swiss Chalet favorites and were disappointed by the taste. The chicken had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. This was apparent as we have never tasted chicken so dry. Thank goodness for the sauce as it helped to lubricate our throats. The fries, although not the typical “Swiss Chalet” fries, were good and hot. The floor in this Harvey’s/Swiss Chalet combo store was so sticky, our shoes kept getting stuck to it. The bathroom cleanliness was equivalent to a porta-potty and my husband refused to allow our daughter use it. We literally drove to the nearest Starbucks to use their bathroom. In addition, my husband witnessed the cook not wearing gloves when preparing food for the customers, but perhaps this is not a requirement in Canada. The highlight and perhaps the only positive was the cashier Irene, whom was very friendly, helpful and eager to please. She was definitely the hardest working employee there as she worked the cashier, expedited the food and collected people’s trays and plates from their tables. Worst $50 we ever spent. Consider yourself warned and eat at your own risk.
