Marcello's - Cork

The service was very good, our waitress was lovely, very helpful, that’s where all the good ended. We were a family of 5, starters were only ok, bruschetta was so bland. I ordered a chicken pasta dish, described on menu as hot, which was honestly the most flavourless dish I’ve had in a long time, about 5 pieces of chicken, and I asked for added mushroom, the lovely waitress informed me there’d be an extra charge for the mushroom, which I was fine with, but I got 3 thin slices of mushroom, wouldn’t even make up one single mushroom. My husband ordered a similar pasta dish, again completely flavourless. Two others ordered pizza, which they said were ok. Then the final and by far the worst dish, was my son’s girlfriend, spaghetti Bolognese, it looked like dog food on top of spaghetti, she couldn’t eat it, it was gross, she said the texture was revolting, she said it was like frozen or a meat substitute, she ate the spaghetti, left all the meat (if you could even call it meat! We informed the waiter, then a supervisor came over, we explained the meat was awful, simply inedible! Tasted like bargain/frozen meat, she protested, it was good quality from the butcher the previous day. We didn’t order dessert, we called for the bill, nothing removed of the bill to reflect that the spaghetti Bolognaise was so bad it wasn’t touched. This was our first and last time in this restaurant. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it, not even for a pizza.

Always a huge fan of Marcello’s food since his Bandon days! A beautifully balanced menu and the added bonus of friendly and helpful staff. Always worth a visit.

Our first time back in a little bit and the menu has expanded to include vegan options and the cocktail bar is amazing! We had an amazing family dinner and would recommend anyone to make the trip to Douglas to stop in!

We were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation early on Saturday evening as we were passing through Douglas .This is a lovely restaurant with a rustic feel . The menu was varied with plenty to suit most tastes. We both had pasta dishes, which were gorgeous, big portions, well presented hot. Service was very good staff were friendly. The dessert menu was really nice. I had a lovely brownie and coffee to finish , the coffee was really good served hot which doesn't often happen in restaurants cafes. This is a lovely Italian restaurant. Great food ,service very reasonably priced . We will definitely recommend return in the future.

Visited with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and we had a brilliant evening from start to finish. Their extensive vegan menu is what drew us to Marcellos and I can't wait to return to try more! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming but never overbearing. Since it was a Thursday we were able to take advantage of their 2 for 1 cocktail deal (has to be to I'd the same cocktail and not all cocktails included in the deal) and there were some lovely options. Something for everyone's taste. The vegan food on offer is second to none. I have been vegan for years and have never been to an Italian restaurant with such a wonderful vegan menu. For starters we had the bruschetta and arancini which were both perfect. Fresh and perfectly balanced flavours and textures. We both had the carbonara for our main and I have been craving it ever since. It was honestly the nicest pasta dish I have ever had in a restaurant. We shared the dessert special which was a vegan meringue and icecream. It is always so nice when a restaurant goes the extra mile to offer a vegan version of a classic dessert, such as meringue. I found the price reasonable considering the quality of food and service. We will definitely be returning soon and again into the future!
