We traveled to Cookeville from Houston to eee family. While there we stopped by Poeys for coffee. My wife saw a mug she liked and we bought it. Once back in Houston she washed the mug in the dishwasher, but first she checked to make sure it did not say handwashing only which it didn’t. After the wash cycle we saw that half of the wording on the mug had came off. I contacted Ports and they said they would replace it. I let them know our address in Houston as I was not going to travel back for a replacement. That was months ago still no mug. The coffee was ok but just disappointing about the mug.
I’m not typically one to leave reviews, but today’s visit to Poet’s Coffee especially deserved one. I truly have never had a worse customer service experience. I came in today and had placed an order in advance via their website. When we went to the cashier, I told the young girl with glasses that we had placed an order online and were a few minutes early, but were not in a rush or anything just wanted to let her know we were there. She abruptly told me that she had the system paused, then proceeded to huff and puff while fidgeting with the iPad next to her. We said no worries, just let us know if we need to do anything. She then responded and said she couldn’t see our order, so I pulled up my phone and showed her my receipt so she could see our items. She looked at the machine, pressed a few more buttons and then walked away with the receipt. We stood there not knowing what to do, she then came back while rolling her eyes and told us they were working on it. We waited for our food while they delivered the order of two other people who went in line after us. We sat and watched while the young woman was snarky and rude to multiple other customers. Once we finally got our food, they forgot two of the items on our bagels we had payed extra for. Will not be coming back here, there are plenty of other options that don’t have terrible staff or will get your order wrong.
Poets is a rare find nowadays. We brought our dog Oscar (traveling through Cookeville) and they allowed him to sit with us inside! The white mocha was excellent and the avocado toast was to die for. On sourdough!! Will definitely be back. Tylan was a huge help in deciding there are tons of options.
Wooden tables and chairs, hip Seventies Alt-Rock in the background. The coffee is good, full of flavor.
