John's Place - Cookeville

Found this little place on our way to Florida. Very friendly man who owns the place also does all the cooking. His daughter, Doodle, served us and was super friendly. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent and the cole slaw was homemade and beyond any we've ever had. There is a pool table and jukebox. Our 8 yr old said he wanted to come back and eat on our way back home. Thanks for the great food!

John's is an old landmark bar and grill.in Cookeville. One of the first integrated establishments in the area. John's serves simple bar food, burgers, sandwiches and cold beer.

We were out of towners and picked this place because of the reviews. The food was fantastic!! The service was so friendly and the people were wonderful. I felt welcome the minute I walked in the door. I’ll be visiting again soon !!

We have been meaning to stop by here for a while. Stopped in today. Sooo good. The burger and onion rings were fabulous. The grilled catfish basket was over the top. The server was awesome. I am impressed with this establishment. From the history to the menu, it was a great restaurant.

We just accidentally found John's Place looking for catfish, but we are do glad we did. The catfish basket was VERY GOOD. Best coleslaw I have eaten in awhile. Generous servings. And our server Julia was the best: helpful, patient, and friendly. That's what will make us come back if we are ever in this part of the world again. Ron Evelyn Briwn
