Bidrage med feedbackLovely little Italian restaurant in Craig y Don. Food was excellent. Piping hot and full of flavour. Portion sizes were just about right, so we didn't leave the restaurant feeling uncomfortable. Only criticism is, like all other Italian/Indian restaurants, drinks were expensive. Would definitely recommend.
Waited ages for drink and food order to be taken even though they weren’t busy. Food was good once served but waited ages for drink and food order to be taken
Lack of ambiance. No music and bright lights and just the loud noise of everyone else in the room, nothing helping the acoustics. Waited 15 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Diet Coke was flat, house wine tastes extremely vinegary and tap water came with lack of ice so was warm. Waitress replaced Diet Coke but still wasn’t very nice, don’t think it was real Diet Coke as advertised. The new plastic picture menus really cheapened the experience and the menu is now much more limited and this didn’t help the execution either. Our starter order first came out wrong. The calamari was clearly not fresh, very small and rubbery in a dark brown batter so was cooked in old oil. Steak was ordered rare, it came out well done and is limited to one side. Had ordered an extra side of veg, again which we had to wait longer for and came out cold and not the most inspiring. Spaghetti and meatballs presentation also lacking inspiration with not even any garnish and just tasted of garlic. I love garlic but there was no other flavour and couldn’t eat it. We did admit that things weren’t great when paying our bill. They knocked 10% off but still shocked we spent over £77 on one of our worst meals. And given the response that ‘less is more’ for the spaghetti meatballs and ‘sirloin is a thin cut’ for the steak… The service staff apologised for things throughout our meal and seemed very flappy but were all very polite. Very disappointing for this place since it’s changed hands but we won’t return.
Went here for dinner because of the good reviews but boy, were we disappointed! I had the worst cannelloni ever, the mince filling was so coarse and hard with no flavouring it appeared to be just pan fried mince that was immediately put into the pasta tubes and cooked in a bland tomato sauce. The following evening we ate at Romeos nearby and there was just no comparison with the authentic tasty cannelloni there. My partner had the chicken in cream sauce which was only just okay but they had run out of roast potatoes at 6pm so he had a side of fresh veg which appeared to have been dipped in hot water for just one minute they were so undercooked and inedible (broccoli, beans etc). The friendly waitresses were very good and tried to help but even after a second attempt to cook the veg, the dish was still undercooked apart from the frozen peas! My Aperol spritz was very watery with too many ice cubes in the glass, not authentic tasting either. My partner had just a large lime cordial drink, but was charged for a different drink! We were offered a discount for the unsatisfactory meal, but we would not return or recommend. I asked if the chef/cook was Italian and was told No English enough said.
Beautiful food excellent service. Met my sons girlfriends allergy needs perfectly. Always recommend. Cant fault this little gem in Craig y don
