La Bodeguita - Consuegra

I was impressed by both the service and the quality of food. The waiter was gentle, served fast, was patient and very polite in answering and describing some unknown dishes, allow to try the wine before ordering (not customary in Spain). And the food was very well cooked, delicious and respectful with local traditions. The only but is that this is not a fancy place, rather looks like a tavern, still a nice one.

We arrived at this restaurant as a party of 7 and asked for a table, we were told by the young waiter to come back at 9 pm. We went for a stroll through the town centre and upon returning to La Bodeguita we found it was closed. The staff were inside so we knocked on the door. The young waiter who spoke to us previously looked through the curtain at us then proceeded with what he was doing. We again knocked on the door and asked the young man to come and speak to us. He cracked the door open a few inches and told us that the chef had decided not to cook for us and there was nothing he could do. We were left standing in the street in the cold with no dinner and absolutely disgusted by the way we were treated. I cannot stress strongly enough the disgust we have at the treatment we received and the manner in which it was given. The young man was extremely rude to our party. Disgraceful treatment.

I was driving along Castalla la Mancha area visiting people in Los Yebeles also worth visiting , and people told me that I have to see the Consuegra town because it is so beautiful. Well, I thought I shall have my lunch there when passing the town. While driving through small beautiful streets, I saw this resturant by a kind of plaza and thought: that 's my Place! As a beautiful Place, I asked if I can eat outside, but I was told no. When I asked for the menu and what was today 's menu del dia, I saw an impressive list of dishes, and I thought that I was not going to have any ' fine dining ' , but in the end there was the price for the menu 10€ so I thought what the heck everything looks great. Place was small and cosy, ' potato salad ' as a starter really good and lamb chops as main course even better. Also a small beer was included into price pan, so I could only have a cafe solo for desert. Service was effective and polite and I later thought that I was really lucky to bump into a top restaurant like this. Consuegra a lovely town, La Bodequita a lovely retaurant! Go there!

Buena comida, muy buen tratamiento y un lugar muy acogedor. Menús de fin de semana para 16 euros con abundante comida, 2 platos, pan, postre y bebida. Repitamos sin duda.
