Rise Up Bbq

Passed through around 2pm on a Fri for a to-go order. Lots of options that sounded appealing. For meats, I was in between BBQ pulled pork and chicken pot pie, so I asked the lady taking the order what kind of BBQ sauce they had and she responded, “Regular”. So I further asked if this was a mustard base or… and she immediately jumped in and said, “Hickory, we order it from US Foods.” ?? What? A BBQ place that doesn’t make their own sauce? That being said, I chose chicken pot pie, fried okra, squash and mashed potatoes with gravy. My chicken pot pie had bones in it, but the flavor was good. Squash had onions, so beware if you order; menu just states squash. Average taste for sides. Meal did come with cornbread, which was yummy, but a tad on the sweet side. But that’s what makes cornbread the best, right?! Bathroom could use some attention. Price was very reasonable; lots of food.

I got the bbq pulled pork, collards, stewed tomato and okra, and stewed yellow squash. Sweet tea and corn muffins. I could not believe how good and tender the pulled pork was. And the collards were equally good. The other two sides were fine. I didn't go in there race on my mind, and if you do, you are the racist. Our server was very friendly and efficient and that's all I care about plus the quality of the food. My companion said the country fried steak was just average as were the mashed potatoes but said the collards and peach cobbler were delicious. I had a hard time understanding what our server was saying. It could have been the background noise or my old ears, but the meal went well. Check out was a bit slow, but they were very busy. 10/12/2022 1:00 1:30 pm I have had their biscuits and I don't like them.

First of I was standing directly behind a white lady and the worker didn’t even acknowledge me then I said something she said I hear you rudely and told me she was helping a customer so I said well you could@least noticed me like really lady this my first and last trip and the food is horrible and overpriced. I don’t suggest anyone eats here. I wish that I could give 0 stars because I most definitely would give it to them.also when she was helping the white lady she was polite, sweet but I have to deal with you being rude. Make it Make Sense!!!!!!!!!!! ????????????

The biscuit was VERY undercooked and the sausage overdone. Completely inedible. I had to throw it away. If I had not waited 30 minutes for it, which made me late to work, I would have taken it back. This is NOT the BBQ Kitchen of my youth. I believe it has been sold to people who are not from the south and do not know how to make proper southern food, especially biscuits. (Their chicken dressing has BROWN gravy! Who ever heard of that?

There's a white side and a black side. The white women are rude and constantly have to step out and smoke cigarettes. If you don't order fast enough they get frustrated. I felt like I was in 1955. Stay away from Jan or jenn. She will do something to your food if you're a minority
