Vista Lago - COMO

The steak was tough as old boots hardly surprising considering took the best part of an hour to cook. The main member of staff was professional but made me feel uncomfortable. I have a feeling that this place is only open due to its fantastic panoramic views. The pasta dishes are nice and competitively priced. Covid secure.

We visited as we were hungry and this restaurant was the only one serving food in Brunate at the time. Believe the reviews, it’s awful. Service rubbish. Food just about edible. We had a salad with tuna and cheese (plastic pizza cheese, a pizza and the most bland undercooked risotto I’ve ever tasted. Don’t go. I read the reviews after we ate. Big mistake!

Terrace looked very appealing but wow what a mistake this one was!!! Waiter took our order correctly and somehow managed to send completely the wrong dish which he then tried his best to get me to eat. My wife’s dish had already been served at different time to mine. A basic tomato pasta dish. Apparently no freshly ground black pepper mill in the restaurant and no Parmesan cheese offered! You’re getting the picture here I hope? Then when main eventually arrived it had a small sharp shard of plastic in the food (veal with polenta and plastic). Showed this to waiter who tried to laugh it off. Then immediately served the same dish to the table behind us without any consideration for the customers! The whole sorry story ended with waiter only knocking 4 euros off the bill and not even offering to reimburse me for the dish that contained the plastic shard! Shameful episode and I certainly won’t be returning.

Please do yourself a favour and keep well clear of this place. Distressingly poor food, devoid of atmosphere, complete waste of time and money. We had the tourist menu two dishes and a side for 19€ ordering seafood linguine, pasta al ragu, grilled fish, grilled meat, grilled vegetables, and chips. Which seems like a decent deal. Seafood linguine and pasta al ragu tasted like reheated ready meals, extremely bland, utterly inedible seafood. Grilled meat zero taste other than the burn from the grill. What we thought was beef turned out to be pork. Grilled vegetables again, the only taste was from the grill burn. Grilled fish non descript but tasted okay, mostly because it wasn 't as grim as the rest of the menu. Chips cold and salty. Much like the staff. The view is nice, though no different from the various other restaurants in the area that can probably produce actual food. Go there instead.

It had just started to rain so we dived in here for some lunch. We sat outside under some umbrellas in the rain which must have been a bit of a pain for the staff as they kept having to get wet but they were still extremely friendly and polite. The food was nice. It seemed typically Italian not particularly elaborate but very tasty. The view was nice too. We would definitely go back.
