Bidrage med feedbackGreat Italian Food, not commercial, in an upbeat, place to be seen atmosphere. Great concept, fresh ingredients, good bar scene, attractive crowd, fairly priced for portion size and quality. I was born in Italy, raised in Brooklyn and worked in a family owned restaurant all through college up until I went to Medical school. This is a GREAT place!
My wife and I went here on a whim. Looked at the menu and decided to do the $24.95/pp family style dinner. Wait staff was very slow to even get drinks...and we didn 't get menu 's until after the drinks showed up. They went on about how big their portions are and how their food is amazing. Ordered Calamari app salmon chicken franchise. Calamari and chicken were very good and a huge portion. Salmon was small, over cooked, unseasoned and tasted like rubber. When we told the waiter he simply explained 'well that 's how they cook it ' and tried to make me feel like it was my fault I didn 't like it. Didn 't offer to cook a new one, replace it, or take it off the check. Just...it 's my fault and we 'll clear your plate. Ugh. Luckily there was plenty of chicken. Dessert we got the 'mixed fruit '. A scoop of whipped cream, 4 paper thin apple slices 2 tiny slivers of mango, 2 small slivers of orange. So much for big portions. It was maybe 2 bites worth of food. Worse though, my apple sliver was bruised all the way around the edge like someone was bowling with it first. Wasn 't worth complaining again at that point. On a $60 check for two I 'd like to think they would have at least gotten the food right or fixed it otherwise. I cook my own salmon all the time there 's no excuse for the thin part being burnt to a cinder or the whole thing being dried out or their complete lack of any kind of seasoning. The wife and I decided to try small restaurants b/c the big ones seem to be going downhill in quality while up in cost. I 'll say though I have never once had Applebee’s or outback or TGIFridays tell me that the food is right and I’m the problem. Would not visit again, would not recommend.
Let 's see...11 of us dined here for my Mom 's 50th Birthday. I 've been here before with my boyfriend, and everything was delicious. This time was awful. 1. My grandfather mentioned that the steak was probably the worst he 's ever had. 2. Waiter spilled water on my arm and dress, and another waiter came over about 10 minutes later with a napkin for me to wipe the water off. 3. My brother, who loves food, ate about 5 bites of his steak, and was finished...and didn 't want to bring it home. 4. The waiter forgot several times to bring drinks, but when he did, it took quite a while to get them. 5. The waiter commented sarcastically about his tip (before we paid said something awkward like There goes my tip. Luckily, my Dad is funny and made it into a funny situation. 6. The waiter brought out the wrong dessert for my cousin, and took forever to get the right one. 7. The waiter spoke to my grandfather about his horrible steak, and told him that he would take it off the bill...HE NEVER DID! 8. The restaurant did nothing to make my Mom 's birthday special/memorable. 9. My best advice is to go to Carrabba 's for a true, delicious, enjoyable, special Italian dinner. The atmosphere, food, and staff are 100x 's better!!!! : I am thoroughly disappointed with Ciao Baby, and do not recommend it. Trust me, I 'm not typically too picky or much of a complainer this was awful.
Right to the point-L.I. 's best baked clams?? What a joke! Where 's the clam? There was none. 1 little piece of what is called the foot in each shell, covered by some nasty filling. We forked through the bread crumb filling to find the clam and it wasn 't there. Just the tendon. What they did was shucked a clam in half, removed the meat and left one little piece of tendon on each side. 1 clam 2 baked. And $18.95 to boot. The dinner was as bad. Pasta with chicken and shrimp in a cream sauce. The shrimp were small baby shrimp like the ones you get in the can next to the tuna in the super market. I 've eaten in the Massapequa C B before and always remembered large portions. Not here 2 people sharing and got a very small plate of food. $27.95 what a joke. I won’t even talk about the giant nasty rice balls. After the app. they cleared the table of all the plates, forks, knives and napkins and served the pasta on 1 plate. We had to go to another table and swipe forks and plates. When I asked the bus boy who our waiter was he said you have 4 it’s not busy tonight. We did?? Now I have had good meals at the Massapequa CB. If you go there may I suggest the gemelli pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage as the app, and the Chilean sea bass and Marinated skirt steak for the entrée. Good luck.
The food was absolutely disgusting. It was worse then a dirty school cafeteria. The table next to us (who also hated it) ordered meatballs..we almost puked from the smell of bad meat. The desserts were completely un-authentic..and something a six year-old puts together at snacktime. The bread was stale and cold..the calamari was burnt and fried beyond recoginition. We ordered salmon and it looked like a rubber dog-toy. The waiter was like a used car saleman who agreed the salmon looked gross..however never offered to take it off the bill. I would rather dine at McDonald's..you would get a better meal!! Overall, the place should be shut-down..and the owners who want to keep it authentically itialian should hire italian chefs!! Shame on you CIAO Baby!!!
