Bidrage med feedbackThe food was delicious and fresh. I enjoyed the Nordic cuisine and the portion sizes were right. The staff was very friendly and I definitely recommend Sunday brunch. I go back because there were other items on their normal menu that I wanted to try.
The perfect place for a date night or meal before/after summiting Pike's Peak! Delicately balanced flavors come together in the signature Scandinavian dishes: the open-faced sandwiches for which the restaurant is named after. Soft lighting and charming Swedish flags dance around the upper wall. The seating is comfortable; service is excellent; and prices are affordable. Walk away feeling enchanted, your hunger satisfied, and with a healthy spring in your step. Everything we tried was delicious, which for me included the Oslo open-faced sandwich, the seafood soup, and the dessert Copenhagen open-faced sandwich with pears and blackberries.
Unique, flavorful, and absolutely worth visiting! Smørbrød is a lovely little eatery hidden away off Cascade Avenue a short way off the major roads nearby. The Scandinavian food served here is nothing like food anywhere else. The dishes are beautifully plated and, they taste just as good as they look. I stopped in for lunch and tried the Tampere and the Gothenburg along with having a Swedish 75 cocktail. The smørbrød was very delightful and came with an apple salad that paired well with the food. The service was swift and my server, Mira, was friendly and informative. I even spoke to Dylan, the executive chef, he was wonderful and even let me know of upcoming events at the eatery. I am looking forward to visiting again in the future.
The food is amazing. It's light and very flavorful, but admittedly not for everyone. I've dragged a few family members here and every time I mention going back they start suggesting other places. However, as long as you like Swedish food then you will love this place. The only drawback is the service seems inconsistent. If they are busy the quality of service takes a quick nosedive and expect to wait a long time to have your order taken, your food brought and for anything else you need. Otherwise, when not busy the service is very prompt.
We were so excited to dine at Smorbrod. The menu was unique and affordable. Located in an old elementary school with plenty of parking. The spacious interior was clean, modern and inviting. Connor was our waiter. Very friendly and helpful. The menu is small. All items have detailed descriptions. We started with the Swedish meatballs. This was the indicator that our meal would be hit and miss. Half the meatballs were cold. I noticed from where I was sitting that items were being cooked in a microwave. It was obvious they needed to leave the meatballs in a bit longer. I wish they tossed the microwave out of their kitchen and use a steam table or cook to order. The creative design of the dishes, the flavor profiles and the plating are perfect. Execution tonight was lacking. The chocolate gooey cake with whipped topping dessert was excellent. There is a full bar. Smorbrod is worth visiting and compared to most restaurants in this city, a five star review can be justified, but tonight the kitchen was not on their A game. We will be back.
