Robata Grill - Colombo

For the first time, try Thai. Service was really fast and the food was pretty good. You have a Thai cook who previously worked at Cinnamon Lakeside Royal Thai. We tried the wok fried duck, which was juicy and the red curry beef was tasteful and spicy. The larvae were a little salty. Portion sizes were really good. Roughly 5k pp.

The old Robata Grill has an upgrade in 2022 and Thai cuisine on its menu. However, I believe that food options are limited and could have been better. Taste, food is good, but nothing extraordinary and whether it is a value for money, especially compared to other Japanese and Thai restaurants in and around Colombo. Portion sizes are generous and very fillable. Drink menu is also limited when it comes to soft drinks, which is a disadvantage. Fruit juice etc. are average in taste. The ambience of the place is good with a very casual yet elegant setup. With the black and red theme there is the mood of a discrete and reserved space. The service is fast and efficient and the staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Recommended for private food n small group meetings.

To start off, we were not even greeted at the door. This was our first time here and we didn't know where anything was. We had to wander in quite a distance when a waiter , mind you with no smile nor an expression of being sorry for the inconvenience showed us to our seat. We ordered our meal, which took an absolutely long time to even come to us. Mind you this place was almost empty and we couldn't even understand why such a delay took place. While waiting for the meal, we could hear the conversations of customers located quite far from us, as well as waiters shouting orders to chefs and vice versa. There was hardly any background music. The ambiance they had tried to set with the lighting was completely ruined by the sounds we heard. At one point they were even confused as to who ordered what dish and we could hear them discussing among themselves as to which customer might have ordered what. I'm sure this is a normal occurrence for someone to forget an order, but why be in ear shot of the customer when u discuss this. Lastly, the food itself was not great. For a restaurant that boasts about its asian cuisine. They didn't do a good job. The waiter didn't even smile or was pleasant at all. This was our anniversary dinner, and safe to say they ruined the night for us. They did give us a cake because of the special day, unfortunately it scarcely made up for the damage done. I must add that the sushi we ordered was quite delicious, there was ample parking in the basement and the toilets were quite clean. Other than that it was not a pleasant experience at all. I hope these problems would be addressed and sorted out asap.

The food was amazing like the staff. I only made a picture of my starter, but the main dish chicken with cashew nuts and Thai rice) was excellent. My friend ordered the Phad Thai, which was so well flavored. Presentations were interesting becuase the spices, peanuts and spices were held to mix as they liked. I'd say a court is enough for two people. Mom! Thai was beautiful and so friendly.

Perfect place for a dinner. Appropriate prices. Nice atmosphere. We have tried Chicken Pad Thai, Laksa Lemak Singapore Noodles as the main thing. Love your food. Really delicious! You have 2 sizes for many dishes Regular and Large. Regular part is enough for a person. Beverages and alcohol are little expensive compared to food prices. Very recommended!
