City Palace - Colombo

The City Palace Hotel is conveniently located near my workplace. I often visit this restaurant for a late lunch when my usual spots have already stopped serving for the day. Despite its small size, the restaurant manages to accommodate about guests at a time. It's common to share a table with others while enjoying a meal of rice, three vegetables, dhal curry, a meat or fish dish, a papadam, and a fried chili. The beef rice and curry combo costs Rs. Other menu items include fried rice, kottu, biriyani, and various snacks. The restaurant also offers cigarettes, soft drinks, and tea for purchase. One of the highlights of dining here is that the rice and curry are always served piping hot, even during a late lunch visit. Around noon, the restaurant can get quite busy with hungry diners. Please note that on Fridays, the restaurant is closed during Jumma time.
