Bidrage med feedbackMy mother and I had a dinner date and shared some great dishes. We had great service from Alycia and loved the atmosphere. We had Black Pepper Biscuits, RL Bandera Quail, Beeman NY Strip Steak and Wood-fired Broccolini Romesco. Delicious! My favoritedish was the Quail, a must try!
Ohmygoodness! What a gem! We?d been to Rancho Pizza for lunch and decided to give Black Cur a try since it?s right next door. We started with the quail appetizer and it was EXQUISITE! I?ve had quail before but this was the best I?ve ever had. The farroit was served on had the most amazing candied pecans and?we had to speak with the chef?pickled blackberries and currents. Thepickled blackberries he said he pickles with red wine vinegar and the cherry juice they get for the bar cherries. Our entiretable opted for the 8 Oz Chef cut steak with an aioli sauce. I had the seared pear salad prior to the entree and it was lightand flavorful. The extra care and attention shown by the chef, wait staff and manager/owner ? , not only to our table butseveral others as well, made this an exemplary experience. Well worth every dollar spent.
I was disappointed in our experience here. Started off with buying a bottle of wine over $70 and when the waiter asked if we wanted to taste it, we did, and it was quite bad. Very sharp, tart and short on the tongue. We told them we didn't like it but went ahead and drank it because they made it seem like it would be a problem if we chose something else.We then had the crab cakes. They actually had lots of potential but they were basically crab cake balls dipped in batter and deep fried. They weren't light and needed something to cut through the fat. Which is sad because i could see great potential in these. But any time you deep fry something you can say goodbye to the flavor. Especially something delicate like crab.My main coarse was the ribeye. This also had potential, but fell short because i ordered it med rare and it came out cooked somewhere around med well. Normally i wouldn't complain but this steak was over $100. And when you spend this much on a steak you expect it to be done right. The crust on the steak was quite nice.I will say the pear martini was great. And the sides were, ok. Our waitress was very nice and did a great job. All in all, the chef needs to get these simple things right, especially at their prices. Definitely won't spend the hour drive to come back again.
Great food and drinks as always. You must try the Brussels sprouts and the bread pudding.
The hype is real…the service was great and the food was truly divine! We shared an app, salad and MASSIVE steak and sides!! The crab cake arancini was the best crab cake I’ve ever tasted. Followed by avocado and hearts of palm salad (that balsamic reduction was PERFECT! We also shared the 24 oz. Ribeye, Mac and cheese, duck fat potatoes, and roasted carrots.
