Queen Saint - Colchester

Went to see a local band playing at this pub. A very small place, but a very lively atmosphere. Staff are super friendly and despite it's reputation is actually a very safe pub and a really good night out. Drinks are a good price and everything was perfect on our visit.

First time in here and popped in for a quick beer after a meal out. To say this is quirky is a little of an understatement. I don't think any two chair are the same and the side booths are snug and the seats very high off the ground. That's not a bad thing, its nice to not have the regimented rows of tables and chairs etc. There was also a stack of vinyls on some shelves that you could play, long time since i have seen Gary Numans Pleasure Principle in Vinyl !! The beer if a very eclectic mix with a lot of belgian and european beers. This is GOOD but they are a little pricey. 4 small beers were £16, but then again 2 of them were a specialist Norwegian Stout at over 10% strength. The barman was friendly and clearly knew his beer and offered great recommendations. I will be back when I need something different and tasty rather than a run of the mill beer.

We dined in the upstairs area which was great. Our food choices were nicely prepared and presented and the beer tasting selections we chose )with some local help) were interesting and enjoyed.

Old houses probaly listed and some still shops but mostly residence or B&B ideal location but parking ?
