Urban Kitchen Deli - Cleveland

Wow! What a delightful surprise this restaurant turned out to be! While visiting from out of town, we sought recommendations and the shuttle driver quickly pointed us in this direction. The service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely amazing! You really shouldn't miss out on their Egyptian menu!

During my stay in Cleveland for some appointments at the Cleveland Clinic, I stopped by for an early lunch. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I tried the gyro omelette and the corned beef hash with eggs, and everything was fantastic! I haven't had corned beef hash this good in years. Each dish was flavorful and generously portioned. I also grabbed a couple of cheeseburgers for our kids to take home, and they loved them as well—no small feat! I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town!

Due to the disrespectful and defensive response from the new management, I have downgraded my review to one star. This is a significant shift from the positive experience I had during my initial visit in June. The management's response lacked any genuine apology and instead seemed confrontational, which is disappointing. During my first visit, I dined in the restaurant with two companions, one of whom shared the ranch wings with me. On my most recent visit, I was again accompanied by someone else. I have no reason to fabricate anything about my experiences or this review; I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday because of how much I initially enjoyed it. The management’s suggestion that my review is motivated by race is misguided. When diners seek out food that is representative of a particular culture, as suggested by a name like 'Urban Café,' it is important for them to receive what they expect. If management disagrees with this point, I would recommend they consider some training on racial sensitivity. Additionally, I did not order a mint lemonade; I requested sweet iced tea, so I'm unsure what that reference pertains to. The mention of a $6 drink was relevant to my June visit, not the one in July. It would be beneficial for management to take a moment to understand my review, which now stands as my third revision. If you believe that your staff should only receive praise, it indicates a skewed perception of customer feedback. I did not reprimand anyone; I merely expressed that the food was lacking in quality and flavor. This feedback is part of running a business, and it is vital for management to listen rather than argue with customers online. If you wish to discuss this further, an invitation to call or email me would have been more appropriate. **Update - July 2022 (2nd Visit)** There has clearly been a change in management. The ranch wings, which were a highlight of my first visit, are no longer available, nor are any flavored wings. I ordered them anyway, and it was a mistake. Whereas the staff and cooks during my first visit were Black, the new team appears to be Indian with a white cook. Unfortunately, the food was flavorless, greasy, and not well prepared. I even felt unwell afterward due to the overly fatty wings that were undercooked. This is a drastic decline in quality. **June 2022 (1st Visit)** During my first visit, I had the BEST ranch wings ever! We also enjoyed the pasta and burgers, although the meatloaf wasn’t to our liking. The ranch wings were definitely the highlight of our meal, and the atmosphere was pleasant. That said, the drinks were quite pricey—$6 for a lemonade feels excessive! I highly recommend the place, but I suggest just sticking to water as a beverage.

Urban Kitchen Deli, located in downtown Cleveland is nothing short but exceptional. With a menu ranging from Rack of Lamb to 4 Cheese alfredo fettuccine with choice of chicken or shrimp, you really can 't go wrong. Also, they serve a hearty breakfast ALL DAY. With a menu to include Egyptian delicacies such as Molokhiya and Mashwi...there truly is something for everyone. Dine in, carry our or cater. Prices is fair, affordable and one of the beste places in the city to still offer corn beef. Stop by for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. You will be greeted from friendly staffed, immediately following an Excellent meal. Leadership and teamwork or vital and and with Owner Mohamed Sadek, making sure things run smoothly, you and your family are where you need to be for exquisite dining. While at the Cleveland Clinic I asked around for good places to eat nearby. Most people referred me here. I was not disappointed! Great menu and good prices. I order the Yaz burger with bacon. Wow it was huge! Definitely did not disappoint. Even the breakfast menu looked really good. Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to stop by. Definitely worth coming here.
