Barroco Arepa - Cleveland

This review is over a year old, but I figured now that I use Yelp I can post about my experience here. The food is excellent. I'll give them that. But the service was absolutely terrible. I came for my 25th birthday in 2019 with my family and we were treated with terrible service and disrespect while we watched the surrounding tables receive great service. We were ignored throughout the whole experience. My mom had to get up and get the attention of the waitress and hostess just to order our drinks. Finally, we we're charged extra for another patron's drinks. I find it interesting that no other patrons in the restaurant were ignored like us. I guess it's a coincidence we were the only Black customers that night?

Colombian Food. Colombian Atmosphere. The drinks and music! Perfect way to get the weekend started with friends. Plus they have a late night after party Saturdays in the summer!

I would highly recommend the plantain, plus it's honestly enough food to feed one or two people! I also got the lomo saltado, which was okay, considering I live in LA and it's easy to come by I have high standards. But nonetheless it is the only place that has it in the greater Cleveland area! Would go back! Super amazing atmosphere also.

From the fried yuca to the sauces they bring out to try, this is a fusion experience like none in the area. The service is prompt but not clingy, the drinks are tasty and cold, and the blend of Columbian, Latin, and local cuisines makes picking just one entree an exercise in self-discipline. The dough is rolled onsite, and they even remembered the sugar cane for the cocktail. I highly recommend this cafe.

I am in love. The food is amazing and you can taste every fresh ingredient. Nothing, including cocktails, is made from a mix. Beautiful flavors and atmosphere. The staff are simply amazing!
