Bidrage med feedbackWELL TO START… been eating at this diner for years especially heading up to the mountains love their food and service but sadly this Sunday we were a bit shocked as use to in the past we made a reservation on line and it worked well but not this visit as we waited for over a hour never received a text for us 3 people so finally after going in and checking we were seated. Another issue is the adjoining bakery has closed which has cut down on tables we were told a steak restaurant coming in hate to say it probably a booze bar $50 plates and white tablecloths. Clayton was once the little town on the hill a jewel but now like any where else it’s all about boozing it up beer and snooty people that some feel they can bring their un therapy dog into an eatery slobbering because they just can with ZERO concern for others. I can say all this because I’m a Georgia boy Anyways …. I will eat at the Clayto Diner only during the week as weekends now is just too much Yes changes come but sometimes changes destroy good things
The Clayton Cafe is under new ownership and delightfully upgraded. The menu is exactly what our town needed. The breakfast quiche, dipped French toast and chicken biscuits were amazing. I felt like I was in the city! Great job Clayton Cafe!
Ordered the eggs, toast, and bacon. Asked for home fries and mentioned my 14 month old has a dairy protein allergy. Waitress said the potatoes would be cooked in oil. Our food came out and I took one bite of the eggs and knew they were full of cheese. (I’ve been dairy free for 11 months so far while breastfeeding my child, I know cheese when I taste it. I’ve been eating plains eggs for months and these were not plain). I let my husband taste and he agreed. I brought it to the waitstaff’s attention and was just told “the cook said there’s no cheese, she wrote dairy allergy”. But the potatoes they cooked in oil came out on my husband’s plate. I didn’t get my side order. So after tasting the eggs, I’m 100% sure they put his cheesy eggs on my plate instead of the plain ones. If there were even any plain ones to begin with. Now we start the waiting game to see if our daughter will have mucus and bloody diapers for a week due to the dairy slip and the waitstaff/cook’s negligence. It’s really not that hard to prevent things like this from happening. Just angry that my little one will be the one to pay the price.
