As confirmed by the friendly young person at the counter this morning, only the fruitcake portion of this establishment is shutting down. The new owners intend to continue operating the front bakery, which was open today. While it's unfortunate that a historic local business is closing, it's reassuring to know that their other bakery items will still be available. I was able to purchase pinecone pastries, even though it was past eleven, when they are typically sold out in the early morning. Perhaps the misconception that the business was closing led to fewer customers than usual in the morning? If you had that impression, I recommend giving them another chance. There's nothing quite like enjoying a warm pinecone pastry with your morning coffee, and their glazed donuts outshine those from Dunkin Donuts.
