Bidrage med feedbackMy father is from Paraguay, and I was so excited to find out that there was a new Paraguayan restaurant in Maryland! I've actually been searching for years for a local spot, but only ever found restaurants in New York. We finally got to visit today, and everything was AMAZING! We tried the chicken, beef, and cheese empanadas, which were all delicious. We are definitely going back this weekend to get the Paraguayan beef empanadas (which has boiled eggs and is my personalfavorite). The Chipa Guazu was the best part. My grandmother used to make Sopa Paraguaya, which is a very similar dish. The Chipa Guaza was so flavorful and fluffy, and brought back so many good memories. It can be eaten cold, but Idefinitely recommend warming it up. Lastly, the salsa was so good you could eat it by itself. My husband is Puerto Rican, and thought it was a cross between salsa and soffrito. It has a sweet tang that takes it to the next level!
Got a mushroom and a spinach empanada for our first visit here, they were so great! The mushroom is all vegan with no cheese, but well seasoned and nicely stuffed. Didn?t get a picture, but they were cutely packaged and very tasty too. They were helpful with allergy ingredients and I was so happy to be able to safely eat there. Slightly pricey at $5/each, but they have a $14/3 deal. Wish they had a buy 4 combo deal to get 2 each with a friend, that would be nice ??
Tasty Empanadas is located inside of the common kitchen.. $5 per empanada and $3.25 for cheesy bread. Chicken empanada had great crust and salsa but chicken was on the dry side. Not as tasty as the ones made by a Mom who is from Paraguay.
When I approached the counter to look at the menu, I immediately felt welcomed ! It was like I was greeted into their home! They had a special Sweet Potato empanada which was savory with red bell peppers. The pepper enhanced the sweet potato flavor to another level yet didn’t overpower it! My tastebuds danced! Loved it! Will be back!!!
Called in for an order because of the images on the website and was told it'd be ready in 5 mins. Arrived around 7 mins. Don't be fooled they were three times smaller than on the website. Which should be updated for false advertising. At least at this location. The beef empanada seemed like it was left out for hours and just snagged from the display case from the unsold ones from the morning. Gosh, it was horrible just remembering struggling to eat it and pouring the already chilled jalapenos salsa on top but I was hungry hungry. Only one that was decently fresh was the mushroom that was good which is why for the 2 star. The spinach one was okay but still tasted as if it was left out for a few hours as well. Maybe I went on a wrong day but the deal they had going for 3 empanadas for $15, I feel robbed. Wouldn't recommend.
