Always a must stop! Playground, fresh pies, ice cream and sooo much more

We visited this place four weeks ago and have stopped by multiple times on our way home, usually enjoying our experience. However, this time was different. Everywhere we tried to sit and enjoy our ice cream, the garbage cans were giving off a foul odor. I'm not sure if it was due to a lack of staff to empty them or if they simply needed to be cleaned. I tend to be sensitive to smells, and surprisingly, my husband, who usually isn't, felt the same way that day. While our ice cream was good, we quickly rushed through our visit, finished our treats, and didn't linger this time.

This is an excellent spot to take a break with kids during a long road trip. They offer delicious ice cream and have plenty of areas for kids to play and explore. It's also pet-friendly outside, making it a convenient place for dog owners to stretch their legs with their furry friends.

I visited the restaurant specifically for the peach cobbler, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. It had been years since I last enjoyed it, so I was really looking forward to this treat. I added a scoop of their vanilla ice cream, and it made for the perfect dessert. Others in my group tried the fried apple pie and enjoyed that as well. Although it was busy, the staff efficiently moved everyone through the food line. There was plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors. The outdoor market atmosphere was charming, with a variety of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and juices for sale. They also had a kids' playground and shaded outdoor areas to relax, plus parking wasn’t an issue. It was definitely worth the drive to Clanton.

As always, this is a fantastic stop on the way home from vacation or on the way to one. However, like many places, they could use an upgrade in customer service. My experience with the young lady serving ice cream yesterday, who was wearing a Chilton County High sweatshirt, was not enjoyable. While we were placing our order and requesting samples, she didn’t speak or smile at all. When we asked for different portion sizes, she consistently gave us the same size without saying a word and with a scowl on her face. It’s important to remember that when serving others, you are the face of the business, regardless of what's happening in your personal life.
