Cafe Standard - City of New York

The seating includes a bar area and small round tables along the wall. I noticed that several tables were occupied by people who were no longer eating but working on their computers. Given the limited space, I think they should prioritize keeping more tables available for actual diners rather than allowing customers to use the Cafe as a workspace. We initially sat at the bar, where the bartender had his back to us for nearly 10 minutes before we finally had to ask for menus and coffee. When a table became available, we moved, but once again we waited over 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Eventually, a different server approached and informed us that they needed to brew more coffee. Once the food arrived, it came out fairly quickly, but the follow-up service for coffee and water was lacking. We ordered a variety of dishes, including an omelet with mixed greens, a croissant egg sandwich, and Irish oats, all of which were very good. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and room at the hotel, but I believe the restaurant staff could significantly improve their service.

The rest of the standard (hotel) was awesome, but the cafe folk are just rude. Bar tender glued to her phone ignoring folk that came in, and I was asked what food and drink I wanted before I even sat down. I was in on Tuesday at 9.... Not busy at all

Super cute gem of a restaurant! Food and drinks were very very good! The lobster bisque was a dream, the burger was very hearty and fresh and the fries that came with it were tasty!! The one thing that struck out to me, and the reason I’m writing this review is due to the integrity of the kitchen! We ordered the octopus and when it came out, I was a bit disappointed because I noted that it was a rather small portion. However it was still delicious so I didn't really care! But without me saying anything, shortly after someone came from the kitchen with a new octo and told us that the chef thought the last on was small so he wanted to give us another portion complimentary. I thought this was very thoughtful and shows that the kitchen is very thorough about what leaves the kitchen and making guests happy! Will be back whenever I'm in New York

Hidden gem in NYC, definitely worth the visit if you are looking for somewhere chilled and easy going, woth lovely food and out of the ordinary cocktails

Normally the standard is a solid breakfast spot. Today I had the worst service I've had in awhile I ordered the standard breakfast, which comes with coffee orange juice. When my order came, it only came with OJ. After I flagged down my waiter asking where my coffee was, he argued with me about whether it comes with coffee! I later showed him the menu where it clearly says you get both coffee/oj, and he finally relented and said I wouldn't be charged for it. When the bill finally came, the coffee was still charged and I had to get them to fix it. A simple black coffee came 40 minutes late after a lot of trial and tribulation. Very little remorse shown and didn't comp me for my trouble.
