Bidrage med feedbackDreadfully bad stereotypical Chinese food. Soupen were only corn starch and soy sauce. the Veg spring rolls were too small. the tofu and the paprika appetizer was dry, bland and open, inconspicuous looking. my friends couldn't finish their chicken shell because it's red hot spicy. Thank you, but no thanks, young cheng.
For the buffet there is no disappointment. the cheap price if they are really hungry. it looks like a take away, but inside is full of people. taste of the garnels very beautiful. chicken breast in a stiel beautiful. the same staff as the others in chinatown. not so kind! they think so; eat and go! I have finished my plate and a dame has put the bill on my table! not friendly! so if u like a good service, it s not for them! but cheaper price and good taste! let's go again!
To be fair, I was at this place a few times and eating is not better than any other place in chinatown it is averaged, maybe 2/5 stars. for fine eating, going somewhere else I went with my partner to lunch yesterday (26 March) and we spent about fifty pounds on suppening, dimsum and wine. the restaurant was busy and the service was slow and rather brash, but again this place is not known for its elegant environment or pleasant coworkers, some of which speak any English or even disturbing smiles at their customers. but when we got the bill, it was not only a few words beaten in cantonese and the total amount we were asked to pay we tried to...read more
From the same owner behind the ever popular Mayflower at the other end of China Town, Young Cheng is one of the better Cantonese restaurants in China Town. Most of the kitchen staff has been transferred from Mayflower earlier this year so expect similar quality. The roast chicken dishes here are a must try, very moist and flavoursome at a very affordable price at the same time. Other classic dishes such as stewed lamb hot pot and steamed minced pork are also worth trying. The downside of Young Cheng is it hasn't got the best service and lack of space as tables are extremely close to one another.
We had a quick pre cinema meal at the Young Cheng. The atmosphere was typical of this type of place, full of fast talking waiters fast talking to each other in their own language that is and tables covered in paper tablecloths. I don't mind as long as the food is good. And good it was. A proper WonTon soup and half of a crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and veggies was all that we wanted. It tasted fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. What more do you need ?
