The George On The Strand

This visit was to celebrate the birthday of my dear friend, the pub site was strategic for our journey to the Duchess Theatre. the service eating was great that we also liked the atmosphere of the dining room in the upper floor.

Nice atmosphere, delicious burger, friendly service, some odd combinations on the menu and toilets not very clean and lacking loo roll.

We had Sunday lunch on Remembrance Sunday. The George was jammed but the staff were absolutely charming and very helpful. Our meal was excellent and served with great efficiency.

I made a reservation for two as my wife and I were headed out for dinner before seeing a show. When we got to the restaurant the bartender was perplexed, as he said the kitchen was closed for training. I was disappointed that they would take a reservation if it wasn’t open. He checked with the folks in the kitchen and they agreed to serve us. We ended up making it simple for them, as neither of us were very hungry so we got a charcuterie board, which was OK, although I think one of the meats was bologna, which seemed out of place on a fairly pricey board. We enjoyed the old pub ambiance.

Should’ve heeded the warning flag of an empty room on a Friday night. Mediocre food and beer and a server with a bad attitude. Don’t waste your time or money.
