"The food at this restaurant is outstanding, and the service is very friendly. The rice and aubergine dishes were the best I've had in a long time. The sauces are rich and flavorful, showing that the chef puts a lot of care into their cooking. This is a wonderful spot for vegetarians and vegans. I highly recommend it."
I had issues using my card on Deliveroo when making an order today so I called the resturaunt directly. They agreed they could take the payment over the phone, which they did and provided an authorisation code. The delivery man arrived and called, and said I need to attend the door with either my passport or driving licence, so he could take a picture of it. I tried to explain that I was not told that when I made the payment, and I further tried to explain that I’d be willing for him to view any necessary ID but not take a picture. I have just had issues with fraud on my account and only just had everything sorted. So far, the resturaunt has my full bank card details. He was not listening to me at all as I tried to explain that I had fraud on my account recently. Instead, he just spoke over me in a loud and rude tone of voice. He said he would leave with the food if I did not give him any ID. I ended the call so I could call his manager. I could not get through as the landline and the mobile was just ringing. I could hear him bellowing outside my house saying, “No, I’m not going to give her a refund. She can get it from the bank.” I tried to explain that I’d just like to speak with the manager or person who took the payment, at which point the delivery person raised his voice and said no, that I needed to come downstairs with the ID or he was leaving. We were going around in circles, as I asked him to calm down and allow me to speak so I could explain. I ended the call abruptly as there was no reasoning with him, and I tried calling the landline and the other mobile number I had. I eventually managed to speak to the original person she was no better. I explained the conversation I was trying to have with the delivery person, and in particular the fact I had fraud done on my card recently. She said she assumed I knew I had to provide ID and she refused to accept when I tried to explain the fact that it is uncommon for a delivery person to want to take a photograph of a customers passport or driving licence in order to deliver food. She told me I had wasted her drivers time, and would not listen to me when I tried to explain that I asked him to give me a minute to call her. It was a pointless conversation. She talked over me, didn’t allow me to speak and refused to give me a refund. She stated that she’d need to contact the Police so they could sort it out, and I said the Police do not deal with those issues. I said I wanted a refund, and she said the Police would need to run a check to see if my card was genuine. She suggested that this was the reason why Deliveroo had issues. I explained to her that it was not ,that my card is genuinely mines and that I was even willing to pay her via BACS when I first made the call to her. I eventually agreed for her to call the Police so they could verify it as it was getting ridiculous. I advised her that I still wanted a refund. Crappy, crappy attitude and no manners at all. They have no clue how to speak to customers. They continue to refuse to give me a refund despite giving me an authorisation code confirming the payment went through. Furthermore, they refused to confirm whether the police indeed confirmed my card was linked to my address. Steer well clear...
The guy working here made me feel extremely welcome and offered to make something I hadn't tried before. Food was tasty and came pretty quick. I'll be back again.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, especially their curry goat. The prices used to be £6, but now they range from £7-£8, which is comparable to other Caribbean takeaways. One great deal is that Bumbuu offers a lunch special until 2pm, where any main dish is only £6, which is why I keep coming back. They are open starting at 11am.
