Thạnh Phat - City of Knox

I've been visiting Thanh Phat since it opened.Service varies dependent on the time of day and the number of guests, welcome to Asia.The food has always been excellent remembering most of the ingredients are fresh from the market in the next block.If you are in doubt where to start, the lotus roots salad is a healthy meal for two or a great entree for four or more.We stp here for breakfat before going to the market to shop. Broken rice is the asian version of bacon and eggs. The broken rice at most local resteraunts is a standard breakfast in the area.If you just want a steak, the sizzling steak will do the job but it takes time to eat, its not a small meal.Remember meals like the shaking beef with red rice come with a bowl of soup to cleanse the pallet after you've finished with the rich food.And for a special treat, this restaurant offers a Vietnamese black iced coffee which you make yourself at the table. Ask for advice if you are new to this drink and once its made sip it very slowly to enjoy the hit of good strong coffee. A black iced coffee and pho (soup) is a great lunch on a stinking hot summer day.I am yet to work my way through the menu because I keep going back to meals I tried earlier.This is authentic Vietnamese food and a good place to try Vietnamese food without going to Vietnam.If Thanh Phat is full try My Cambodia a few shops south for excellent Cambodian food.

Usually go to another local but thought we would try after reading the reviews. Order was wrong, table wasn't clean, waitress struggled with order and sent us wrong food. Did offer free dessert to compensate. No cheaper than others around it. Food was limited mainly to noodles and rice dishes.

We always visit Thanh Phat when in Springvale. There is a extensive menu. All meals are delicious and the staff are friendly and the service is prompt. I recommend a visit to this restaurant.

I came here today with two girls under 10. The staff were very friendly and answered all of our questions and gave great advice for ordering. The food came out quickly! It was fresh, tasty and lots of it! Great experience.

Wonderful little restaurant offering a great menu, varied but uncomplicated, backed up by fantastic service and value!Looks appealing from the outside and the decision to sit in and enjoy a meal for two was immediately vindicated.Service was friendly and prompt without being rushed, and the food fresh and delicious.All this in a spot where competition is all around... I will be back... soon!The setting is basic, but comfortable, clean and uncluttered... with outside tables also available.We arrived at 6 for an early Saturday dinner and found a table for 2 without difficulty, then while we were there it filled up with a steady stream of obvious regulars.. understandably!Love it!
