Bidrage med feedbackToday, we gave the restaurant another chance by stopping in after 12 pm. We ordered carnitas tacos with rice and beans this time. The texture and quality of the pork were slightly better, but it was very finely chopped and tasteless, wrapped in a cold tortilla. It lacked the usual flavor and had a texture reminiscent of canned tuna. The service was still good on both occasions, but the decline in the quality of their signature dish is evident. We may not give it a third chance to disappoint us. It's a sad realization to see a once great spot for delicious carnitas served hot and fresh, lose its charm.
The bolillos were delicious! However, the interior of the restaurant hasn't been renovated since the 1980s and some pastries were stale.
I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a young child back in 1990. Nothing has changed about this place. The same woman still works there and they only accept cash. Every morning, laborers stop in for their bread and coffee. It is truly special to see how authentic this place has remained. The bread is delicious and affordable. This restaurant is a classic on the west side of LP.
We used to love this place for their carnitas, but something has changed and not for the better. My husband has been coming here for over 50 years, and I have been coming for the last six since he introduced me. It used to be consistent and delicious. However, two weeks ago we brought a guest from the city on a Friday night, promising them the best carnitas ever. It was embarrassing when the plate of carnitas arrived for three people. There were piles of fat, cold, soft pork with only a few bits of meat. The tortillas were old and cold. Today, we decided to give them another chance and stopped by around noon. This time we ordered carnitas tacos. The pork had better texture and quality, but it was finely chopped and tasteless. It was wrapped in a cold tortilla and nearly had the texture of canned tuna. The service was still good, but the overall experience left much to be desired. We are hesitant to give them another chance to disappoint us. It's a sad ending to what used to be a great place for delicious, hot, and fresh carnitas.
The restaurant has a large Mexican atmosphere and the ham omelette is delicious. The carnitas quesadilla is enormous, big enough for two adults. The pozole is both well-served and tasty. The staff is friendly and willing to help. One downside is that they don't open until 8:00, which may be a little late for breakfast.
