Bidrage med feedbackMy partner and I dined at Standard Bengal two nights ago and enjoyed a delicious and fresh meal. We opted for the 'Bengal Night' special on a Wednesday evening. Our waiter, Wahi, provided excellent service and we look forward to returning in the future.
I do not appreciate being deceived or manipulated, especially by restaurants. My experience at Standard Bengal left me feeling misled and frustrated. We had booked online for their Wednesday night banquet advertised at £11.95, with a 25% off voucher valid Monday to Thursday. Upon arrival, we were told the banquet was available but at a higher price of £13.95 (trick #1). We confirmed with the waiter about using the voucher, who checked with his boss and reassured us it could be used (trick #2). Despite these assurances, when the bill came, we were told the voucher was invalid. The manager refused to honor it, despite his employee's earlier confirmation. After a heated discussion about being misled and lied to, we paid the full bill. I caution others to be wary of trusting the website's vouchers or prices at Standard Bengal. Expect to be deceived and manipulated. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
I was disappointed to find that the poppadums were burnt and there was a piece of plastic in the chicken madras. The delivery took over an hour, resulting in cold food. I have always been a fan of The Standard Bengal, and I hope they can address these issues.
Great family restaurant with excellent service, freshly cooked food and a great range of curries. If you need help the servers (particularly Wahi) will help you get the meal you want, and currently spiced, a really good evening out
