Bidrage med feedbackI haven't had fish and chips in a long time due to blood sugar issues. I decided to treat myself to a lightly battered cod recently and it was absolutely delicious! The batter was light and crispy, and the cod was perfectly cooked. Kudos to Skippers for a job well done!
I had a disappointing experience dining at this restaurant last Friday. The fish supper was of poor quality with small portions and undercooked chips, making it the most expensive option in the area. Despite this, I decided to give it another chance this Friday since I had seen the owner on TV claiming to be an expert in fish and chips. Instead of risking it, I ordered steak pudding and chips with gravy for myself and my wife. However, it took 40 minutes to prepare and the staff were incredibly rude to not only me, but to other customers as well. To make matters worse, I was overcharged by £1 for the second week in a row. I spoke to someone on my way home who mentioned that he and his neighbor had stopped dining at the restaurant due to the poor quality of food and being ripped off. He recommended Parker Street Chippy in Chorley for delicious food, friendly service, and better value for money. The owner of the restaurant needs to focus on improving the quality of his establishment instead of promoting himself, or else customers will continue to walk away.
Recently, when I ordered fish and chips from this restaurant, I found the chips to be dry and crispy as usual. However, the fish, although fresh and of good quality, was disappointingly swimming in grease, making it very unappetizing. It seems that the fish is not given enough time to drain excess fat after being fried. I am writing this review not to tarnish the excellent reputation of Skippers, but in the hopes that a small change in their procedures could restore the food to its original high quality. I have also noticed that when the food was not up to par, the owner was not present.
Haven't visited this chippy for about 12 months, even though it's our local. It was disappointing then, but I thought I'd give it another chance so tried again tonight. The £5.20 fish was miniature, the lightly battered wasn't lightly battered, and the chips were hard and cold, rip-off springs to mind. But to top it off the 4 staff acted like headless chickens, couldn't believe it. Will I be going again... not a chance. Ann
We like a similar post, moved to the area 2 years ago. I have used Skippers pretty much a couple of times per month and the general quality has deteriorated. The chips ate chewy which leads me to believe that the raw chips gave been stored in water too long. The cod has little taste and the batter is soggy. The mild curry sauce looked like it had curdled or someone had regurgitated it. All bits and no sauce. I have visited Browns in Chorley recently, purely due to being in Chorley at the time. So much better in everyday, the service is also more personable unlike the clinical way in which skippers transects its business. Skippers please take heed of the comments you are recieving or you risk losing your customer base. Fish and chips is not a cheap option for a family and needs to reflect reasonable value for money. I'm not one for posting negative reviews but once or twice you can accept as unlucky but the quality has been questionable for sometime.
