Sultan's Market - Chicago

Today I tried the Baked Kefta Kebab Sandwich (spicy), a small hummus, and an order of za'atar bread on North Ave. The Kefta sandwich was filled with vegetables, hummus, and meat. I finished it in no time. The za'atar bread complemented the hummus perfectly. The sumac dusting on top was a nice touch. I highly recommend this for a quick and tasty meal. The menu has a lot of variety to choose from.

Had high hopes given the other reviews but was let down. Entrees are a bit pricey, chicken was dry, sauces sucked (one looked like semen and was flavorless, the other far too spicy without much flavor), and the spinach pie was served room temp withhardly any filling. There's FAR better Mediterranean food in the city this place definitely does not deserve the 4.6 stars ithas

I do love a good Mediterranean meal, and this place never disappoints. I?ve been several times over the years and I?ve never left unhappy. I don?t love the decoration of the place looks a bit cheap, and could easily be spruced up a bit, but in theend, it?s the food that counts, and it?s always been a solid venue in my experience.

I visited Sultan's Market for the first time last week when we ordered takeout for my friend's birthday picnic. The food was generally quite good, with a few exceptions. The pita bread was the standout item - light, fresh, and fluffy. The rice was also great. I enjoyed the falafel and hummus as well. However, the vegan cookies were dry and lacked flavor. We ordered both types of vegan cookies and were disappointed with both. My friend and I were also interested in ordering dolmas, but upon seeing them at the salad bar, they appeared crushed and unappetizing. As a result, we decided against ordering them. Overall, the meal was satisfying, but could have been exceptional if it weren't for the dolmas and vegan cookies.

This restaurant always deserves 5 stars because it is the original spot. I have watched it grow from when it first opened to now, and I am extremely impressed with the consistency. I appreciate that they hire young people from the neighborhood. Today, Xavier provided amazing service. He was the gentleman with the beard, an older man. He was very attentive and ensured my order was correct. I am grateful for the wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Keep up the fantastic work, guys.
