Pupuseria - Chicago

The food is quite good, but the service leaves much to be desired. The restaurant has a cozy, mom-and-pop vibe. I entered to place a takeout order and was informed it would take about 35 to 40 minutes. However, I ended up waiting over an hour. I imagine that dining in could also take a while, which isn't a problem if you're looking for a more laid-back experience compared to our usual fast-paced lives. Overall, it's a nice addition to the neighborhood, but it's not extraordinary.

I absolutely love the vegetarian options! I tried the stuffed zucchini flowers, and they were made fresh to order.

I rarely give negative reviews, as I'm a small business owner myself and appreciate supporting local establishments. I was genuinely excited to try this restaurant because the food looked amazing. However, when I arrived, I waited for 20 minutes without a single smile or greeting—there was no acknowledgment at all. Another family of six walked in and had to stand around because the empty tables weren't cleaned. The place didn’t seem busy, and they didn’t appear to be short-staffed, so I’m not sure what the issue was. I arrived feeling hungry but left feeling quite frustrated. They didn’t even say goodbye as we walked out, and the other family left too. I would love to give this restaurant another chance, but unless their service improves, I won't be returning.

Food was good, a little simple but good. I only give it 4 stars cause we waited for 30 minutes to get our food . The order to go were coming out faster then ours.???????????

I love this place! It is a more upscale version of a hole in the wall Hispanic restaurant. The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic, although I would recommend ordering ahead as the wait can be pretty long when ordering at the register. Everythingalways tastes great and is good quality. It brings a nice variety and uniqueness to the area!
