Bidrage med feedbackWe celebrate valentines dinner at Nellcote, the ambiance was fantastic. We could have a private conversation, didn't feel the need to shout over the background music, which was also a pretty great playlist. The food was reasonably portioned and tasted great, it's a fun spot to share plates. Our server was a character, which added to a great dinning experience
My waitress was extremely pushy that we order more expensive things on the menu. We ordered a desert and the waitress ended up bringing us a more expensive desert. She seemed to want to make our bill higher then what we expected it to be. As our meal finished we left our tip and she came up to the table while we were still putting our coats on and grabbed the tip. They seemed like they just wanted our money and for us to leave as quick as possible. Many waitress and waiters were on their phones which was understandable because it was not busy. But again our waitress was extremely unprofessional.
Very quiet on a Thursday after work at 6, only 4 people at the bar. Extremely limited liquor selection, 2 scotch options, really! And one was Glenlivet 12 year??? At 6:30 we sat at table for dinner and waitress Kate was the saving grace of Nellcote. Menu was limited, the salmon was quite good though. Will not be back. Way too many great options in this neighborhood.
I went for the pizza on a recommendation and agree that the crust is terrific. Good and chewy with quality toppings. The pasta is also pretty good (caccio e pepe, simple, not quite peppery enough). The space is too big and the bathroom felt half-finished. Most perplexing? The soundtrack. Jack Johnson from Curious George soundtrack? Smashmouth? It was such a 00s hodgepodge that I wouldn’t even call it ironic. It felt like someone left their iPod nano on shuffle. Not what I wanted for Saturday night.
Worst experience from a restaurant with really high ratings. Went here for a birthday dinner it honestly had the ambience of a late night bar. Songs ranged from Country Road to Spice Girls If You Wanna Be My Lover. I love these songs at a late night bar after a few cocktails not at 8pm with a nice dinner in West Loop. It was also SO LOUD and they barely turned it down when we asked. We also had a broken table that the waiter could care less about helping us fix. It was honestly ridiculous. They also were out of EVERYTHING. We asked for the calamari and a popular cocktail completely out of them. I asked for an extra olive in my martini (I only got one which isn 't a big deal I just wanted another one) and he told me that they had a policy to only give out one olive but he would make an exception . So if you want to eat a plate of pasta while listening to Third Eye Blind blaring in your ears, not get any of the normal items on the menu, and have an olive policy enforced, Nellcote is the place for you! The food was good only upside to an otherwise terrible dinner with the worst ambience and service.
