Manjares - Chicago

I ordered the Carne a la tampiqueña, which came with a generous portion of carne asada that was excellent. It also included an enchilada de mole estilo Guerrero. The mole had a nice kick—spicy but not overwhelming. I would definitely consider ordering that as a separate meal on my next visit. I highly recommend this place; just mention that RookieNetwork sent you! I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because they had a guy singing with a guitar, and he wasn't great. I would have preferred some pleasant background music instead.

I had some business to take care of in the area, and afterward, I was craving authentic Mexican cuisine. A gas station attendant recommended this place to me. I was hoping to try the fish tacos, but due to my shellfish allergy, I opted for something safer. I ended up ordering chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and two chicken tacos—one topped with cilantro and onions, and the other with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Wow, it was amazing! This is definitely my new go-to spot for authentic Mexican food. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious!

I've dined here a few times over the years, and they've consistently served great dishes. The food is tasty, the portions are generous, they make homemade tortillas, and the service is friendly. My current favorite is the Lomo de Res in Chile de Arbol sauce—it's spicy and absolutely delicious!
