Hash House A Go Go - Chicago

The restaurant ran out of majority of the food we ordered, which was salmon and red velvet pancakes. Also we were informed that the restaurant is closing and going out of business tomorrow. Today was their last day serving and were selling out of all the food.

Loud children with piercing screams, in the front and back. Had reservation but waited to sit, even when tables were available. Waiter only stopped by every 15 to 20 minutes. Took an hour to get food. Was with someone and my food came 8-10 minutes later. Saw that quite a few other tables also did not get their food together, some ate while others waited. It was hot and muggy inside, some of the staff were fanning themselves. A very unpleasant experience. Will not go back.

The food was amazing, but the service was pretty bad and the a/c was either off or way too low for such a hot day (90's). People were waiting to be seated, but there were many empty tables.

We have to been to this location a number of times while visiting family in town. We were surprised with how long it took to get our food-45 minutes and this was after waiting approximately 10-15 minutes for our waiter. In the past the service has been very prompt and food quickly forthcoming. We visited on a Saturday around the same time we have been before. Will look at other options next visit.

My boyfriend and I were intrigued by the menu when visiting from out-of-town. Luckily we didn't have time constraints because the staff were quite overwhelmed mid-afternoon, and we had to wait almost an hour for our food. When it came out it was hot, but not blow-your-mind worth waiting an hour for. Couple other tables weren't able to and their drinks were comp'd so they could leave.
