Bidrage med feedbackThe rodeo is amazing. The music and atmosphere are fun. Some of organizational issues were frustrating. It was asinine to have to walk 3/4 around the entire outer part of the large venue to go from the only park and ride drop off to party zone 1 gate. Absolutely stupid. I'm sure there's a reason because everyone knows it's completely stupid. But they should rectify that issue. I was also frustrated that I'm entering first the first time in my life and on the first night for the concert, nobody that was working security/entry or even the information booth guy could tell me how to get to gate (portal) 1. I was told to go ask the information booth. Information booth tells me to go ask the entry people at the main gate. That person (different from the first) told me to ask the info booth! But overall the atmosphere of Frontier Days and Frontier nights is fantastic. Sure, crowds, long lines, etc. but nice people, lots to do, good music (system doesn't sound amazing though down on the floor...very loud and distorted) and a completely amazing rodeo experience has me considering taking the two day drive out from northern Minnesota again some day.
My daughter who uses a wheelchair for mobility has always looked forward to her CFD days and concerts. This year however seating changed and the VIP section with bar height seating was placed in FRONT of the accessible section leaving people with disabilities without a view of the stage, just a great view of a lot of people seating in front of them.
Great excursion!! Parking prices were reasonable, and the buses took you right to all the action. The staff were incredibly friendly. Lots of fun things to see, do, eat, and drink! Family friendly, but also a good place to get a beer and listen to live music. There are rides for kids, rodeos, shows, museums, shopping, and more! Lots of fun!
I have been attending CFD since I was a little kid, tent camping in the parking lot then moving up to hotel camping as an adult. Sadly in 2020, due to covid, Cheyenne was forced to cancel CFD. This was the first time in 124 years that the Largest Outdoor Rodeo didn 't go on. As a minimum substitute they organized the Big Daddy Rodeos which were small venue shows that were nice fillers, but I miss the day shows, the concerts and the hundreds of vendors. I am SO looking forward to 125th, in 2021!
My neighbors would spend most nights in Cheyenne at the concerts. We arrived at Cheyenne Frontier Days early in the morning, parking a little ways away and being taken in by bus. There were photo opportunities (like with different bull riders), carnival rides, dancing, beer gardens, the Indian Village. We also had PRCA rodeo tickets (about $17 each) and unassigned seating in the shade. For the number of hours of entertainment it was a pretty good deal- bareback, saddle bronc, roping, barrel racing, bull riding, steer wrestling. Minus, the bacon wrapped everything (corn, hot dogs), I felt like food options were a little lacking. Ended up with a grilled chicken breast sandwich for $7 and my first time trying fried Oreos (don't judge me). My mom kept comparing it to the New Mexico State Fair, and was saying CFD didn't have as much to offer. There were displays and contests from local businesses, and even a chance to try the bamboozled jelly bean game. By about 2 or 3 o'clock, we had pretty much already seen everything, although it was an enjoyable day overall. I would love to come back just to see Luke Bryan perform
