Bidrage med feedbackI stopped by after checking out Google reviews, and wow! The crab cake was fantastic and definitely worth the visit. It's located on a busy street, and the food was brilliant. I also met Aunt B., and she was wonderful!
The food is fresh and delicious; you really should give it a try!
The dish featured salmon filet over vegetable fried rice, topped with about a tablespoon of crab meat, four large shrimp, and Aunt B’s special sauce. Everything was lightly seasoned, and the sauce, which was mayonnaise-based and sweet-savory (a bit too sweet for my taste), was decent but didn't blow me away. Does Aunt B’s Game Changer really change the game? Perhaps in Chester, where good dining options are limited, it might. However, I’ve tried many similar trendy mayo-based sauces, and there wasn't anything that set Aunt B's dish or sauce apart to create a "wow" factor. The vegetable fried rice was the standout of the meal for me, loaded with lightly sautéed vegetables including onions, celery, red pepper, carrots, string beans, broccoli, and corn. The cornbread was moist and cake-like, reminiscent of my grandmother's version of this traditional soul food staple. Aunt B’s menu is quite extensive, offering a variety of soulful dishes, from Fish and Creamy Grits for breakfast to Cabbage and Crabby Crab Cakes for dinner. There's no denying that Aunt B has an impressive culinary vision, but don't get so caught up in the hype that your expectations become unrealistic.
I had a wonderful experience at this black-owned business, and I'm so glad I discovered it. The customer service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the sauce was truly fantastic. Dining at Aunt B's and her family was a real pleasure. Wishing you all many blessings!
After reading the glowing reviews online, I was really looking forward to trying the food at this restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken platter with yams and potato salad. While the chicken was absolutely delicious, I was quite disappointed with the yams and potato salad. My daughter ordered mac and cheese with yams, and I found her mac and cheese lacking as well—both were very bland. The yams seemed to be straight out of a can in both taste and appearance. We both enjoyed the fried chicken, but usually, when I order soul food, I expect to relish the side dishes even more, and this didn’t feel like genuine home-cooked southern food. I’m surprised by the high ratings this place has received. On a positive note, I appreciated that the meal came with cornbread and a free soda. If I decide to return, it will be solely for the chicken and possibly the turkey wings that I was curious about. Unfortunately, it just didn’t feel like home cooking to me.
