Bidrage med feedbackGrill’d Healthy Burgers Southland RestaurantImages of the ‘Miracle of the Hudson River’ (the successful ditching of the Airbus A320 undertaken by Chesley Sullenbergen in New York in 2009) as directed by Clint Eastwood in his movie ‘Sulley’ were still racing around in our heads as we left the cinema and headed into the restaurant piazza outside; all those people standing safely on the wings and rescued within an hour of landing. Amazing. We’d not eaten at the Grill’d Southland for perhaps a year, and it offered an easy option for a late evening meal. During our absence the restaurant seems to have had a make-over; new entrance, décor, name (‘Healthy’ added) and sitting area out front. Even a different selection of burgers. We had just caught the restaurant before they closed that evening (including the one choice of bun available – the popular panini had sold out). That, however, was no disincentive and we ordered the basic ‘Simply Grill’d’ (beef w/o the cheese option) and the ‘Field of Dreams’ (a veggie with mushrooms and peppers). A regular hot chips and a 600 cc bottle Pepsi complimented the meal. We sat outside looking out over the piazza. The meal came 10 minutes later with smile and a ‘buon appetito’.Good things thenThe meal cost A$30, so good/reasonable value Great images and tastes; succulent salads & vegetables and hot chip wedges in a paper container. None of the squishiness that you sometimes get with burgers from the fast food options in the main chains (unless you’re quick off the mark with ‘no mayo please’). The burgers were large (high?) and needed that hat-pin of a stick to keep them together when you first handle them. Filling too.Not such good thingsCouple of points. There was no menu posted behind the cash/order desk, and you couldn’t easily read the card menu provided at the cash/order desk. There was no way of deciding what to eat – for those who did not know the menu beforehand – when queueing. A case of queue, get a menu, leave the queue (or hold up the queue) and then return and queue again. We took our menu outside to read it in the light, and queued a second time. The burgers were not so hot and had become cold before they were finished. But then it was a cold evening.Peter SteeleRome
Grill'd Burger is located in a hidden spot within one of Melbourne's charming arcades.
Great burgers and fries. Affordable and also good for you.
My vegan friends from the United States are visiting, and we wanted to find a quick and delicious meal while exploring Melbourne.
